International Happiness Day | Dallas Dog Photography

Today, March 20th is International Happiness Day. The United Nations chose a Pitbull to be the face of World Happiness. The Pitbull is a very much underappreciated dog. Back in the day, Pitbulls were used like nannies to take care of little children. I guess we weren’t so fearful of them then.

The breed is a wonderful dog. It is the bad humans that have taken a sweet breed and turned it into something that is feared. Bad humans bred the dogs to be fighters or tortured them by making them victims. Unfortunately there are a lot of Pitbulls  in shelters. They are docile, sweet dogs that just need a home. I hope in the future you will consider adopting a Pitbull from a shelter and giving them a chance.

The Pitbull above is Ebony, a rescued Pitbull. She is not the Pitbull chosen by the UN to represent International Happiness Day, but instead represents all the wonderful Pitbulls waiting for a family.

Do you have or know a wonderful Pitbull? Comment below and tell me about them.

Kudos to those who rescue these babies. Stop the discrimination!

Margaret… I have two amazing pitbulls, both rescued from shelters or rescue groups. You took our family photos several years ago with Petey and Mollie. Yesterday was the 5-year anniversary of Mollie’s passing, and I miss her dearly. Petey will be 12 years old this year and I cherish every day I have with him. I’ve had a total of 4 pitbulls… all shelter dogs… and all loyal, loving companions.
